Madeline Poole
Madeline is a senior at Yale pursuing a degree in English Language and Literature with a Concentration in Creative Writing, as well as a Translation Studies Certificate and French Certificate. Her poem “Girl in Tow” is published in the photo book Bare Handed. She has always loved to read and write, and enjoys sharing those passions with students in the classroom.
Madeline attended Deerfield Academy for high school. While there, she mentored students through Outreach & Prep., an organization that helped students through the application process to private middle and high schools. She specifically worked with students on essays, SSAT prep, interview prep, and one-on-one mentoring. In high school, Madeline also received a grant for a project where she interviewed former refugees and compiled their stories into a self-published book, recognized by Deerfield Academy’s The Alumni Book Award for outstanding commitment to the Community Service Program. During high school, Madeline earned high marks in her six AP classes. She was an AP Scholar, and received a score of five on the AP Language and Composition exam.
Madeline enjoys engaging with kids and being a mentor: she finds helping kids to achieve their academic goals an especially rewarding experience. Madeline has been tutoring with Diyi since the Summer of 2022. She has taught SSAT Prep and English to elementary and middle school students.
