Course Description:
This course will teach students the essential skills necessary to prepare for higher-level academic writing. Students will read various AP-level books. Beyond this, they will also be reading a variety of poems and short stories from different eras and periods. This course will test students' critical thinking skills and push them to analyze pieces using close analysis, critical literary lenses, historical context, and more. Through the course's variety of material- plays, poems, fiction, and more- they will also learn different analysis techniques depending on the genre. While this is not an AP Literature or Language class, students who succeed here will be ready to take either exam in 2025.
