Class Outline and Expectations
This course introduces students to novels from a variety of genres. Specifically, we will cover fantasy, modern fairy tales, biography, comedy/farce, and fiction. This diverse reading list will accompany lessons on various writing styles, including creative writing, journalism, personal narrative, and literary analysis. Each week, I will provide materials (generally in a PPT) posted to the Slides and Resources folder to guide students as they complete their homework.  Students will write one full piece (short story or essay) every two weeks, with other supporting assignments (plans). Writing assignments are due 48 hours before class. Individual grades won’t be lowered for late submissions, but the final grade may be lowered if late work becomes a pattern. Each student will receive a letter grade (A/B/C/D) on each assignment and a final grade. Individual assignments and final grades will be determined according to the guidelines below.

Book  List:
  1. The Hollow Bettle (Poisons of Caux Book 1) by Susannah Appelbaum
